There’s a pathway in your brain that rewards you for doing certain things. This “reward pathway” ties together different areas of the brain to create pleasurable, memorable experiences. Drawing on our basic understanding of brain chemistry and anatomy, this lesson will explore how drugs and alcohol can activate the reward pathway and eventually take control over it in a way that inhibits its normal, healthy functioning.
