It’s so crazy and weird knowing that I came from a place of just utter hopelessness and despair, sinking further and further down everyday and then comparing that with where we are today. All the blessings that come with recovery are innumerable, and at times you wonder if you really are deserving of all this. But, luckily that’s not for me to decide. But what is for me to decide is what I do with this opportunity. It’s like they say, we aren’t responsible for our disease but we are responsible for our recovery. And tho my recovery hasn’t always been pleasant (and I’m only a little over 100 days in) or easy, I decided before I even went to rehab that the alternative wasn’t working and all I had left was to try a new way to live, or die. The only way I can show my appreciation for Aaron and his staff at Stepworks of Nicholasville, along with everyone else we have supporting us, is to fight everyday for our recovery. Look to the future, not the past except to remember the pain. Stay grateful, give back at every opportunity, put only love into the world and always put your recovery before all else. You never know who you may be helping, just by being you. So keep your head up guys! I just realized at last night’s meeting with my home group that I used to wake up everyday and the first thing on my mind was dope. Now it’s coffee lol. It’s crazy but I love it. Doing dope was such a burden all day everyday, and night lol, and it’s so nice not to have the million other worries that come along with it. We can shop and buy cars now, go out to eat, pay for our friend’s dinner too! And again, that’s just a little over 100 days in. The possibilities are endless. Thank you to everybody

    • Awesome stuff @jessicaconrad! Your journey is an inspiration to many!

      • Ty! It’s hard to understand how you might influence anyone when you are so young in recovery sometimes, but just for today, I get it lol so ty. We can only keep what we have, even at 120+ days (I lost count 😋) by giving it away. You’d be so proud of Doug too, he’s doing an amazing job. We appreciate your continued and constant encouragement as well as everything you and your staff did for Doug and do for others everyday. You guys will never get the credit you’re due so I always try to say ty at every opportunity. Hope you have a great day and no matter what may happen, you’re doing the God of your understanding’s (😋) work.
