In sobriety, It’s best to make friends with people who want the absolute best for you. Surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable, even if it’s something you don’t necessarily want to hear. If you hit an accomplishment, that it be getting a job or a milestone in your sobriety, the friends around you should want to help you celebrate that accomplishment. They shouldn’t try to one up you with their own achievements, or even worse, somebody else’s achievements. The farther you walk down the path of your recovery, the more people you’ll see fade over the horizon as they choose to walk down a different path.
