We learned that we had to fully concede to our innermost selves that we were alcoholics. This is the first step in recovery. The delusion that we are like other people, or presently may be, has to be smashed.

Every time I read this, without fail I finish it as “Has. To. Be. SMASHED.” for dramatic effect even when I’m only reading it by myself. 🙂
I also have to smash this idea when there’s no alcohol or drugs involved. Just that Lindsey is not all knowing and must have help
