The first thing I would say about myself, is that I have been one hot mess! It took me several years to realize I even had a problem and a couple more after that to have the strength to do something about it. My addiction really surfaced after I went through a 60MPH head-on-collison, that I caused, that led to the loss of a woman's life. I served four years in prison and have several more hanging over my head. I am now in school full-time and working towards my bachelors in Justice Studies and my Paralegal Certification. I want to help people the way others had helped me. I was thrown into a system I knew nothing about and witnessed some of the most grotesque "human treatment " I've seen in my life. Just because people have substance use disorder, does not mean they are not valid in what they say and what they want. I WILL make a difference in the recovery world, even if I have to get really old while doing it. Thank you everyone. Stay strong out there.
