A little over 9 months clean. Just out of rehab again…this time I have a sponsor, I’ve been through the steps once. I’m going to meetings and I’m moving in to sober living tomorrow. I feel more like myself than I have in years. I am happy with who I am, who I am becoming, and where my life is going. I know without a shadow of a doubt I would not be here without God’s grace and mercy and the program. I am truly blessed.

January 24 From isolation to connection Our disease isolated us...  Hostile, resentful, self-centered, and self-seeking, we cut ourselves off from the outside world. Basic Text, p. 4 = Addiction is an isolating disease, closing us off from society, family, and self.  We hid.  We lied.  We scorned the lives we saw others living, surely beyond our grasp.  Worst of all, we told ourselves there was nothing wrong with us, even though we knew we were desperately ill.  Our connection with the world, and with reality itself, was severed.  Our lives lost meaning, and we withdrew further and further from reality. The NA program is designed especially for people like us.  It helps reconnect us to the life we were meant to live, drawing us out of our isolation.  We stop lying to ourselves about our condition; we admit our powerlessness and the unmanageability of our lives.  We develop faith that our lives can improve, that recovery is possible, and that happiness is not permanently beyond our grasp.  We get honest; we stop hiding; we show up and tell the truth, no matter what.  And as we do, we establish the ties that connect our individual lives to the larger life around us. We addicts need not live lives of isolation.  The Twelve Steps can restore our connection to life and livingif we work them. = Just for today:  I am a part of the life around me.  I will practice my program to strengthen my connection to my world. "Recovery is a process of discovery. We learn about ourselves, and we learn how to cope with the world around us. When we are sincere in our desire to allow our higher power to care for us, we begin to gain a sense of serenity. We notice a gradual change in our thinking. Our attitudes and ideas become more positive. Our world is no longer distorted by self-pity, denial, and resentment. We are beginning to replace those old attitudes with honesty, faith and responsibility; as a result, we begin to see our world in a better light. Our lives are guided by our emerging integrity. Even though we make mistakes, we become more willing to take responsibility for our actions. We learn that we don't have to be perfect to live a spiritual life. When we work step three with an open mind and heart, we find the results are far beyond our expectations. " It Works How and Why pg24

A month after completing Stepworks of Nicholasville. What a roller coaster really... Meetings daily, sometimes more than one since I only have a part time job... Emotional ups and downs... It isn't a challenge to stay clean and sober, and thank God for that. Thank God for all the times Aaron reminded me I was part of the dying. I am one decision away from a grave, and for me that is so important to remember. It wasn't warm and cozy out there, so I am grateful for new understandings and experiences... I can call and joke with my mom, no one struggles sleeping at night because They are worried that they are going to receive a call in the middle of the night saying I died. Willingness to do WHATEVER I have to do in order to go to sleep sober one more night. ❤❤❤
