My husband is going through the same things as me how do I help more

    • Hi Brianna! You focus on you and your sobriety. Let your husband focus on his. Encourage him when making good decisions. This is a tough situation because you can easily go co-dependent. Remember, he has to make his own decisions in the same way that you do. You are not responsible for his sobriety. The only thing we have control of is ourselves. That is crucial for you and your health.

    • Be supportive of good choices and decisions he makes and encourage him if he’s trying to do better. But make sure to set strong healthy boundaries with him. Anything that puts your recovery at risk isn’t worth it. Take care of you first girl! If he wants to change, he’s more likely to watch what you do for your recovery than to listen to what you say he should do. And you’ll be there to help when he’s ready. 💗

      • Brianna, what you need to do is form a team with your husband that focuses on both of you getting clean and sober. Only praising him when he makes good choices is letting him fail and slip through the cracks. When you love someone, you cannot let them fail. That is God’s Will. Speak to your husband and let him know that you are aware of his addiction in a way that he will respond kindly and that he will engage with you, and from there, make a game plan for both of you to recover together where you will both be in the same team.

    • Focus on your recovery first. If he wants help encourage him to go to AA.

    • Hey @Brianna! Looks like you are getting some feedback from others from their experiences. If your husband is interested in treatment we may be able to help. Your recovery is priority! Without it, nothing else will matter. If you want to talk about options for him, feel free to message and I’ll be happy to help.

    • Well I can’t just focus on mine cause if it’s around me That’s a trigger. So I have to focus on getting him clean too
