This disease tries to get me in all sorts of ways, just had me nearly spending £6.99 on a load of soul readings that I do not need, why would I need those when I’ve got the 12 steps and God in my life today, all I need to do is practice my program and not just talk the talk.

Talking the talk is all good and well but unless I actually practice…[Read more]

Fed up of having to put up with people who have stopped drinking but don’t work a programme, dry drunk comes to mind, self willing on a regular basis which is all good and well if its only themself that it effects but when it affects the rest of the team then that’s a different story all together. My patience & tolerance are wearing thin.

God direct my thinking today so that it be divorced of self pity, dishonesty, self-will, self-seeking and fear. God inspire my thinking, decisions and intuitions. Help me to relax and take it easy. Free me from doubt and indecision. Guide me through this day and show me my next step. God give me what I need to take care of any…[Read more]

    24 hours a day
No more. No less. To do my best to keep my thinking in check. To pray often. To trust that God cares about me and wants me to succeed. To hold on and to not give up. To do for others what I can. To give God my weaknesses and my triggers. To grow humility and a deeper gratitude. To give God all the credit. To have a peace at the end…[Read more]

A complete knowledge of the physical, mental, and spiritual injury we have suffered at the hands of “John Barleycorn” is indispensible to the honest, far-reaching decision we wish to make. Deliberation born of necessity and a desperate need for help will inspire us to seek our understanding of God.

    • I love the Little Red Book and it’s description of Step 3! I haven’t read that in a long time and may have to go dig it out now. Thank you for the reminder and thank you for sharing @jofruit!

    Appreciating Our Past

It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more healing to look at ourselves and our past in the light of experience, acceptance, and growth. Our past is a series of lessons that advance us to higher levels of living and loving.

The relationships we entered, stayed in, or ended taught us…[Read more]

    SLOGANS AND ACRONYMS

    Keep It Simple
The slogan, “Keep It Simple” helps to remind us that simple solutions are often the most effective ones. This slogan can help us look at what really is happening rather than what we imagine may happen, and to take a reasonable, step by step approach rather than act out of fear or panic.

I’m over 3 years clean and I still get using dreams (bizarre) and my sleep pattern is still a nightmare, I haven’t had a full night’s unbroken sleep at all, I’m waking up 3=4 times every night, it takes me hours to get sleep, hours to get back sleep, doing my head in big time. I have meaningful structure that wears me out so what’s with all the insomnia?

    • I have trouble sleeping too, plus I work 3rd shift as a caregiver, my mind never shuts off, I take melatonin, it helps a little bit I guess, but honestly I have to do something simple in my head, like just count, sometimes I count backwards, or by 2s,5s ,ect. Say abc’s.. just sounds alot like me what u wrote, I tho maybe thatd help! Plus not…[Read more]

    GIVING TO OTHERS
I have found that during times of great despair, when I feel that all hope is lost, when my faith has left me, that giving my love and compassion to others restores my spirits and provides me with a sense of emotional stability.

In the past, I often became so entangled in my own problems, so obsessed with my own pain, my own…[Read more]

    Let God Handle It

“I’ve found that you can’t draw road maps for the Lord. I’ve tried that.”

    Giving Credit Where It’s Due

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.”

    —Marcus Tullius Cicero

Lack of gratitude is a sure sign we’ve forgotten how far we’ve come from where we were, and who’s responsible. When we start feeling good, begin accomplishing things, and even find ourselves admired by ot…[Read more]
